On December 14th, Jinan Tourism School and Le lycée hôtelier Sainte Thérèse de La Guerche de Bretagne of France successfully hosted an online culinary cultural exchange event.
The event consisted of five segments: brief exchanges between the leadership of both schools, mutual introductions of the culinary programs at each institution, live demonstrations of culinary creations and preparations by students and teachers, interactive exchanges between students and teachers, and a concluding summary of the activities.
Both sides showcased their modern facilities and achievements in professional development, with students and teachers presenting live culinary demonstrations and preparations, promoting resource sharing and cultural exchange.
The French school live-streamed scenes of teachers and students bustling in the kitchen, preparing meals for dining guests, showcasing the school's integration of production and teaching in practical training and the preparation methods of dishes such as French vegetable-filled pastries.
Wang Bin, a backbone teacher in the culinary department of Jinan Tourism School, and a gold medalist and coach in national competitions, led national competition-winning student Gong Jianwei in presenting an intricately carved fruit and vegetable sculpture titled "Phoenix Playing with Peonies." Yin Chuan, head of the Chinese cuisine cooking research group and gold medal coach in national competitions, provided live commentary. The lifelike artwork and the students' exquisite skills received praise from the French teachers and students.
Through interactive questioning, teachers from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on details of food carving techniques such as chocolate and fruit and vegetable carving. They also exchanged ideas on the integration of production and teaching in talent development.
During the final exchange and summary segment between the leadership of both schools, the focus was on enrollment internships and employment, talent development models, effective communication methods online and offline, and the promotion of resource sharing and cultural exchange.
Jinan Tourism School adheres to open and international education to strengthen professional development. The two schools, with highly compatible culinary programs, established a friendly sister-school relationship in October 2016, consistently conducting mutual visits and study exchange activities.
This successful online exchange is a significant exploration for both schools, contributing significantly to expanding students' international perspectives and enhancing their professional competence.
